Hello reader! It is finally warm here in Berlin and we spend much time outside, enjoying the sun and good weather. Nevertheless I’m all into reading and pushing through several books simultaneously (but on different media).
So, what are my plans for April 2026? I’m finishing “Operation Bounce House” by Matt Dinniman on paper (gorgeous The Broken Binding edition) and “We Are Legion: We Are Bob” by Dennis E. Taylor (narrated by fabulous Ray Porter). These two books have been transitioned from March and will be done in April.
Then I’m reading two books for my Book Club. The first is Thomas Pynchon’s “Gravity’s Rainbow”. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this book and thrilled to read it. The second is “Synners” by Pat Cadigan, a staple in the cyberpunk genre and I haven’t read any cyberpunk for some time. At least this year had nothing even closely related to this genre. These two books I’ll read in paper one after another.
The audiobook section is a bit uncertain. I can continue with Bobiverse and listen to “For We Are Many” or I can finally bite a bullet and start “Dungeon Crawler Carl”. The hype about this book is so huge that maybe it makes sense to jump on this train.
For ebooks I’m reading “Pearl Harbor: Japan’s Greatest Disaster” by Mark E. Stille. The title is self-explanatory and I’m really enjoying this read. I will write a short review on it on GoodReads, because it’s an ARC, but I won’t post the review article here. The next book after “Pearl Harbor…” will be the ARC of “Steel Gods”, the sequel to “Grave Empire” by Richard Swan. I enjoyed Grave Empire a lot, so am looking forward to return to this weird, unsettling, and grimdark world. And after this, if I have any time left, I will start another ARC, this time in German. “Untergang der Welten: Ende eines Zeitalters” by Karl H. Sodek is a hard sci-fi novel and, unfortunately, I have nothing to add. Let’s see how it will go.
And that’s all. April will be exciting, a bit grimdark, a bit cyberpunk. I’m really looking forward to reading these books.
